Back to the park

Privacy policy

Amusement Factory is a game about building a park, not about you. It has no account, no advertising and no connection to the internet - everything you build stays on your own device. This page says so properly, and explains what this website does.

The short version

If you only read one part of this page, read this one.

The game collects nothing

No name, no email, no account, no advertising ID, no location, no contacts, no usage tracking. There is nothing to collect because nothing asks.

It does not phone home

The game makes no network requests of its own. It runs exactly the same with the device in airplane mode, because it never had anywhere to send anything.

Your parks stay yours

Saved games are plain files in the app's own folder on your device. Delete the game and they go with it. We never see them.

This website counts visits

The site - not the game - uses our own visitor counter, which sets one cookie so a returning reader is not counted twice. Section 5 sets out exactly what it records.

1. Who we are

Amusement Factory is made and published by Corbata Games, based in the Netherlands. Where this policy says "we" or "us", that is who it means. For anything covered by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Corbata Games is the data controller.

Questions about privacy, or a request about your data, go to info@corbata.games. A real person reads it.

2. The game

The game does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. It has no sign-in, no player profile, no leaderboards, no chat, no advertising, no in-app purchases, no analytics or crash-reporting library, and no third-party SDK of any kind. It does not ask for your location, your camera, your microphone, your photos, your contacts or your calendar, and it does not read your device's advertising identifier.

The game also makes no network connections. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is downloaded, and there is no server behind it. Play it on a plane if you like.

What is stored on your device

The game writes two kinds of file, and both stay on the device you are playing on:

  • Saved games. Each park you save is one file describing that park - its money, its date, its rides, its roads, its guests and its staff. It is a description of a made-up theme park and contains nothing about you. You choose the park's name, and that is the only text in it that you write.
  • Settings. Your preferences - volume, graphics and similar - are kept in the operating system's ordinary place for game settings.

Where those files live depends on the platform:

PlatformSaved games are kept in
iPadOSthe app's own Documents folder, inside the app's sandbox
macOS~/Library/Application Support/Corbata/Amusement Factory
Windows%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Corbata\Amusement Factory

You can delete them at any time by deleting the files, or by deleting the game - removing the app removes everything it ever wrote. We have no copy, because it never left your device.

Backups are your device's business, not ours

If you back your device up - iCloud, an iTunes or Finder backup, Time Machine, Windows File History, or Steam Cloud where a platform offers it - your saved parks may be copied into that backup along with everything else. That happens between you and the company running the backup, under their privacy policy. We are not involved and we cannot read it.

3. The App Store, Steam and other stores

We sell the game through stores we do not run, and each of them handles your data under its own privacy policy - not this one. When you buy, download or update the game, the store knows about it. We never see your payment details, your address or your account.

What a store may pass on to us is aggregated and anonymous: how many copies sold in a country, how many devices of a given model, how many crashes of a given kind. It arrives as counts and charts, and there is no way for us to work back from it to a person. On Apple platforms this is the App Analytics you choose to share or not share in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements; crash reports reach us only if you have that switched on, and they describe the crash, not you.

For what the stores themselves do, see Apple's privacy policy and Valve's privacy policy for Steam .

4. Children

Amusement Factory is suitable for all ages and is safe for children by construction: it collects no data from anybody, of any age, so there is nothing about a child for us to gather, profile or pass on. There is no chat, no user-generated content shared with anyone else, no advertising and no link out of the game to anywhere. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 - or under any age - because we do not collect personal data in the game at all.

5. This website

The website is a separate thing from the game, and it is the only place where anything is measured at all. Everything the site needs to draw itself - its stylesheets, its scripts, its fonts and its pictures - is served from this domain, so simply reading a page contacts no advertising network, no font service and no content delivery network.

Our own visitor counter

To know whether anybody is reading, the site loads a small counter of our own from corbacount.com, which we run ourselves. No third party is involved and the figures are never sold, shared or used for advertising. For each page view it records:

WhatWhy
The page address and its titleTo see which pages get read
The referring page, if you followed a linkTo see where readers come from
Campaign tags in the address (utm_…)To tell one announcement from another
Screen size, browser language and a short technical fingerprint of the browserTo count a visit once and to know which layouts to test
Your IP address, which the server necessarily seesUsed to derive a rough country; not stored as part of the visit record
Page loading speed measurementsTo find pages that are slow
A random identifier in a cookie named _cc_vid, kept for 12 monthsSo a reader who comes back is recognised as the same visit rather than a new one

That identifier is a random number. It is not linked to your name, your email or any account, we make no attempt to work out who you are, and we do not follow you to any other website. Visit records are kept for at most 24 months and then deleted; the totals we keep after that are counts with nobody in them.

Turning it off

Blocking cookies for this site, using your browser's private window, or running any ordinary tracker blocker all stop the counter. Nothing on the site needs it - every page works exactly the same without it. You can also delete the _cc_vid cookie whenever you like, in your browser's site settings.

Nothing else is embedded

There is no advertising, no social media widget, no comment system, no embedded video and no third-party analytics anywhere on the site. The counter above is the only request that leaves this domain. If a video or a store widget is ever added, this page says so before it goes up.

If you email us

Mail sent to info@corbata.games reaches an ordinary mailbox. We keep what you send for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a sensible record of the conversation, and we use it for nothing else - no newsletter, no mailing list, and it is never passed on.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to have its processing restricted, to receive a copy of it, and to object to our using it. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

In practice there is very little to ask about: the game holds nothing at all, so those rights have effect only on the website's visit records and on any email you have sent us. Our legal basis for the visit records is our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site is being read and whether it is working, and for email it is answering the question you asked.

To exercise any of these, write to info@corbata.games. We answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you may complain to your national data protection authority - in the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens .

If you are in California, the same applies: we do not sell or share personal information, we do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we collect none of it in the game.

7. Keeping it safe

The site is served over HTTPS and the counter's figures sit on a server we control and nobody else has access to them. The best protection is that there is so little to protect: no accounts, no passwords, no payment details and no personal data from the game.

8. Changes to this policy

The game is in active development. If a future version ever does something that touches your data - cloud saves, say - this page is updated before that version ships, and the date at the top changes with it. Nothing already on your device is affected retroactively.

9. Contact

Anything on this page that is unclear, or a request about your data - just ask. We would rather answer than have you wonder.
